The wicket of Shikhar Dhawan was 100th for Jerome Taylor in ODIs. He became the 15th West Indies bowler and 122nd overall to take 100 or more ODI wickets.  (Also Read: Report: India vs West Indies, 2nd ODI)

Only three West Indies bowlers have reached the 100-wicket mark in fewer matches than 68 taken by Taylor. They are: Curtly Ambrose (61), Ian Bishop (61) and Joel Garner (67). (Also Read: Death bowling - Mohammad Shami’s new forte)

Virat Kohli (62) made his 50th fifty-plus score in ODIs (19 hundreds and 31 fifties). He became eighth Indian to do so after Sachin Tendulkar (145), Rahul Dravid (95), Sourav Ganguly (94), Mohammad Azharuddin (65), MS Dhoni (65), Yuvraj Singh (64) and Virender Sehwag (53).

Kohli is the second quickest in ODI annals to score 50 fifty-plus scores taking 140 matches to accomplish this feat. Only Viv Richards (136 matches) did so in fewer matches than Kohli.

India’s total of 263 for seven was their highest in a day-night match at Feroz Shah Kotla, beating 238 for two they made against England in 2011.

Dwayne Smith (97) made his highest score in list A cricket, surpassing 96 he made on two occasions – for Barbados vs Windward Islands in 2005 and for West Indies vs Middlesex in 2012. Incidentally his previous highest in ODIs was 68 against Sri Lanka in 2005.

Kieron Pollard was batting higher than number four for the first time in his ODI career. During the course of his innings Pollard completed his 2,000 runs in ODIs, thus becoming 19th West Indies batsman and 181st batsman overall to do so.

At one stage West Indies were 170 for two. They were then bowled out for 215, losing last eight wickets for an addition of only 45 runs! This is West Indies’ second worst eight wicket collapse against India. In 2011 World Cup at Chennai, West Indies lost their last eight wickets for only 34 runs – from 154 for two to 188 all out!

Mohammed Shami (4-36) returned his best figures in ODIs, bettering 4 for 50 he took against Bangladesh at Fatullah earlier this year.

Shami became seventh Indian bowler to take four wickets in two consecutive games (he had taken 4 for 66 in the first one-day international at Kochi). Others to perform this feat for India are: Narendra Hirwani, Manoj Prabhakar, Sachin Tendulkar, Praveen Kumar, Ashish Nehra and Ravindra Jadeja. Hirwani is the only Indian to claim four-wicket hauls in three consecutive matches.

Shami is the third Indian bowler – after Anil Kumble and Venkatapathy Raju- to claim two four-wicket hauls against West Indies.

This was Shami’s fourth four-wicket haul in calendar year 2014. He thus became first Indian bowler to claim four four-wicket hauls in a calendar year. Five bowlers- Narendra Hirwani, Anil Kumble, Ajit Agarkar, Harbhajan Singh and Praveen Kumar- had taken three four-wicket hauls in a year.

India have now won last six consecutive ODIs played at Feroz Shah Kotla (completed games only). The last time India lost a match here was in April 2005 against Pakistan.
