# Dhawan's 114 is the highest individual innings at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, surpassing Virat Kohli's 107 off 102 balls against England on September 16, 2011.

# Dhawan has been adjudged the Man of the Match for the first time in ODIs.

# Kumar Sangakkara (102 off 97 balls at Johannesburg on January 22, 2012)was the last left-handed batsman to post a hundred against South Africa in ODIs. Matthew Hayden (101 off 68 balls at Basseterre on March 24, 2007) was the last left-handed opener to register a century against South Africa in ODIs.

# Rohit and Shikhar were involved in a stand of 127 - India's first century stand for the opening wicket against South Africa in the ICC Champions Trophy - their third overall for this wicket-position in this competition - the first two being 192 between Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly against England at Colombo (RPS) on September 22, 2002 and 141 between Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly against New Zealand at Nairobi (Gym.) on October 15, 2000.

# The 127-run partnership is the second opening partnership by any pair against South Africa in the ICC Champions Trophy - the highest being 154 (unbroken) between Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chnderpaul for the West Indies at Jaipur on November 2, 2006.

# After more than two years, an opening pair has recorded a century stand against South Africa in ODIs - the last pair being Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar - 142 at Nagpur on March 12, 2011.
