Murali Vijay (167 off 361 balls) has posted a career-best score in Tests, surpassing the 139 at Bangalore in October 2010.
Vijay's innings is the tenth knock of 150 or more by an Indian opener against Australia in Tests.  Virender Sehwag is the only one to record three such knocks, followed by Sunil Gavaskar's two.

Ravi Shastri (206 at Sydney in January 1992) and Gautam Gambhir (206 at Delhi in October/November 2008) share the Indian record for most runs as an opener in an innings against Australia in Tests.  These are the only double hundreds by Indian openers against Australia in Tests.

Vijay's marvellous knock is the joint fifth highest by an Indian opener in Tests against Australia.

Vijay and Pujara were involved in a stand of 370 - India's highest second-wicket partnership in Tests, eclipsing an unbroken 344 between Dilip Vengsarkar and Sunil Gavaskar against the West Indies at Kolkata in December 1978.
