This match was the fourth between India and Pakistan – first outside the ICC World Twenty20.
Umar Gul was playing his 50th Twenty20 International.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Irfan were making their Twenty20 International debut. They became the 45th and 50th players to represent India and Pakistan respectively.
At 7 ft 1 in Mohammad Irfan is the tallest player ever to play international cricket.
India’s total of 133/9 is their lowest ever against Pakistan. Their previous lowest was 141/9 at Durban in 2007.
Between the 15th and 19th overs India lost seven wickets in 24 balls while scoring only 21 runs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar's figures are also the most economical by an Indian in a four-over spell in Twenty20 Internationals, equalling Ravindra Jadeja's record, who did so against England at Kolkata last year. However, Bhuvneshwar had more wickets under his belt than Jadeja.

Mohammad Hafeez’s innings of 61 is the highest by a Pakistan captain in Twenty20 Internationals, surpassing Shoaib Malik’s 57 against Sri Lanka at Johannesburg in 2007.
Mohammad Hafeez became the leading run-scorer for Pakistan in T20Is, moving ahead of Kamran Akmal. Now, Hafeez (872) and Shoaib Malik (870) hold the first two places for Pakistan when it comes to highest run tally.
The fourth wicket partnership of 106 runs between Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik is Pakistan’s best for this wicket in T20Is, beating the 101-run partnership between Younis Khan and Shoaib Malik against Sri Lanka at Johannesburg in 2007.
The above partnership is also the highest fourth wicket partnership against India for any side. The previous highest was 73 between Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara at Manchester in 2011.
Pakistan registered their first win over India in four attempts.
Mohammad Hafeez won his fifth Man of the Match award in Twenty20 Internationals. Now only Shahid Afridi has won awards than him for Pakistan; Umar Gul has also won five MoM awards.

Hafeez: "It was a great effort we wanted to start the series well and we were great with the ball right from the very start. Mohammad Irfan is a surprise package and he showed just why today with some great bowling at the start. Saeed Ajmal and Umar Gul were also fantastic at the death. Myself & Shoaib Malik played very well, we took risks at the right time and ran between the wickets well. This is a great result for the whole nation and we are really pleased with the way we finished it."
Dhoni: "I think we should have got a lot more runs after getting off to a fantastic start. We were not able to capitalise on our openers good work and we should have easily got 15 or so more runs. We took a gamble bowling out the fast bowlers early but unfortunately their batsmen were too good today."

Propelled by Rohit Sharma’s magnificent double-century, India marched to a 153-run win in Kolkata.
