Sehwag and Gambhir became the 1st Indian opening pair and the fifth in the history of Test cricket to aggregate 4,000 partnership runs or more - 4028 at an average of 53.00 in 79 innings. Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes (West Indies) hold a record with 6482, followed by Matthew Hayden and Justin Langer (Australia) - 5655, Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss (England) - 4711 and Marvan Atapattu and Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka) - 4469.

In their last 10 partnerships, an Indian opening pair couldn’t put up a stand of 50 or more runs in Tests.

Cheteshwar Pujara's scored 119* runs in this test and is his maiden century in Tests. His previous best is 72 runs on debut match vs. Australia in Bangalore in 2010.

Pujara has become the 2nd Indian batsman after Harbhajan Singh (111* off 116 balls in 2010 v NZ) to register a hundred at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad.

Virat Kohli scored 58 runs. This 50 is his 3rd 50-plus in his last 4 innings. It has his 4th fifty in Tests and his 3rd in India.

125 runs partnership of Kohli and Pujara is the highest 4th wicket partnership at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal. And also this is the 8th on the list of best 4th wicket stands for India against New Zealand.

The 125 runs partnership is the highest put on by Kohli in his Test career. The only other century partnership shared by Kohli in Tests with Wriddhiman Saha is 114 for the sixth wicket vs. Australia in January this year.

Sachin Tendulkar has now been bowled 49 times in Tests. Only after Dravid (55) and Allan Border (53) have been bowled more.

Indian captain MS Dhoni hits 35 sixes in test. In all Test cricket, only four players have hit more sixes as captain than Dhoni – Brian Lara (49), Clive Lloyd (48), Viv Richards (46) and Ricky Ponting (37).
